My name is Emily, and I am writing today to raise funds for my friend and colleague, Christopher Rutherford-Pettway.

I met Chris a year ago when we both joined the HI USA family. We quickly bonded over the fact that we are two Northeast Ohioans living in Los Angeles. (He is the only one who knows what I’m talking about if I start raving about buckeyes.) He, of course, became friends with everyone. You can’t help but love his easygoing demeanor and laidback laugh, which feels way too lowkey for someone over six feet tall.

Last fall, Chris’ health took a downward turn. He has been working hard ever since to take care of himself, but sometimes you need help from your friends. He recently learned he needs a heart transplant and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future. Please help us raise funds for this surgery and related medical expenses.

Chris is a gentle and kind soul. He is hardworking, ambitious, and creative – a skilled musician and photographer, among his many talents. His dreams are big. Even in a city full of people trying to make it, there are few I want to see succeed more.
