Christmas is fast approaching, and at Children of Cameroon, this time of year means something truly special for the children we support. In the communities we work with, a new Christmas outfit is one of the most meaningful parts of the celebrations. It’s the one gift the children consistently wish for — something they can wear proudly on Christmas Day and cherish long after.

Our sponsored children receive a Christmas outfit through their sponsorships, but children who don’t yet have sponsors have no way to purchase one.

This year, Christopher is one of the children hoping to receive a Christmas outfit.

About Christopher

Christopher is a baby boy from Yaoundé, born on Christmas Eve last year (2024) — he’ll be celebrating his first birthday this Christmas. He lives with his mum and older brother, David (who also has a fundraiser set up), in a single-room home. His mother works extremely hard as a school cleaner, but her modest income can’t stretch to everything her two young boys need. Despite these challenges, Christopher is growing in a loving home, discovering the world around him. His favourite colour is red, and he enjoys simple rice-based meals suited to his age.

What your gift means

Your donation — no matter the amount — will help provide Christopher with his very first Christmas outfit. Though he is still so young, this gift will mean the world to his mother and will allow Christopher to be celebrated and included in a tradition that brings joy to children across the community.

Christopher needs £30 for his Christmas outfit this year.

We see every year just how much this means to the children.

Last Christmas, Cyril told us:

“I enjoyed it because I was in a new outfit.”

Mercy shared how special her gift felt:

“The dress was so beautiful… I was so happy, and I want to thank you so much for that.”

And Abigail reflected on the difference it made to her family:

“It was a memorable day in my life because it has always been my mum struggling to buy my dress. That day, my sponsor opted to buy my dress.”

These moments stay with them long after Christmas Day.
