Help Chris & Family Recover - 19yrs old in ICU
Donation protected
Christopher Blanchette, 19 yrs old is in ICU on life support because of one decision. One decision to take a pill he thought was a Xanax. That split second decision changed his life forever because the pill was laced with Fentanyl and no one knew it. It has changed the lives of his entire family and those who love him.
On Monday, February 1st, Chris was hanging out with friends playing video games. Someone offered him what was thought to be just a Xanax. The pill he took was unknowingly laced with Fentanyl. After taking it he fell asleep and hasn't woken up since that night. His friends called 911 when they couldn't wake him up. Family was notified by the hospital that he was in ICU fighting for his life.
Chris stayed on a ventilator until they switched to a tracheal tube that is powered by the ventilator this past Friday. He is still in a medically induced coma so his body can heal from this tragedy. We have faith that because he is young and strong that he can eventually recover from this. It will be a very long road ahead and he will remain in ICU until he is strong enough to be moved to a long-term care facility.
Chris lived at home with his mother, my sister. He worked hard every day to help pay the rent and bills at home. His boss always complimented on Chris' dependability and work ethic. He is now laying in a bed unable to do anything.
Chris is a wonderful, loving young man who would do anything for his family and friends. He volunteered in his free time to help me with the non-profit dog rescue group I founded, Fur Sisters- Furever Urs Rescue. He is a passionate, kind and caring person - a true animal advocate. He loves spending time with the dogs and helping find their forever homes. Always with a smile on his face and bringing joy wherever he was.
Chris would give up his last dollar to help anyone that needed it. We, his family, are asking everyone to do as he would. The family needs help right now. Our lives have been turned upside down. His mother is not working at the moment so she can be by his side in ICU. He has no insurance and the bills are adding up very quickly.
As his Aunt, I want everyone to know that Chris is truly a special person. He didn't deserve to end up here. No one does.
We are putting his story out there for another very important reason. Please remember that your life can be tragically changed so quickly. Fentanyl is a very dangerous drug and is an epidemic in our country. It needs to be talked about. It does not discriminate and can take a loved one from you.
This could happen to anyone. Please talk to your children, family and friends about the dangers of this drug. Share Chris' story with them.
Drug dealers are making/pressing pills and adding Fentanyl to them. The pills look just like the real thing and to the untrained eye you cannot tell the difference.
Our family is devastated and we pray that this doesn't happen to anyone else. But unfortunately it will. That's the reality we are living in and it's very scary to think about how many lives are being affected by this horrible drug.
We are asking everyone for prayers and positive healing thoughts for Chris and our family.
All donations are greatly appreciated and go directly to Chris' care and the needs of the family at this time.
