This campaign is being created for Christopher Tom and his family. Chris was diagnosed with cancer at age 11, and has been battling courageously for the last three years. Within that time, Chris has undergone numerous surgeries and procedures, has completed multiple rounds of Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, and spent many months on and off at BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) in Vancouver. In May of this year, Chris had his right leg amputated at the hip due to complications from this cancer. Recently, Chris started having issues with pain in his remaining leg and began experiencing labored breathing and coughing fits after light physical activity. Chris and his father, Daniel, visited Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and were transferred to BCCH. The BCCH doctors discovered that Christopher's cancer had spread into his spine, hip and left lung. Chris and Daniel will now be staying in Vancouver for an unknown time while the BCCH team develops a care plan for Chris.

This GoFundMe aims to support Chris and his family during this highly stressful time in their lives. Daniel was forced to leave his job several months ago to accompany and support Christopher through many treatments and appointments at British Columbia Children's Hospital in Vancouver. The funds raised will help the family keep food on the table and a roof over their heads, allowing everyone to navigate the stress, anxiety and emotional rollercoaster of having a member of their family fighting a terminal illness. The family also hopes to bring Christopher home to his safe space surrounded by loved ones. Funds raised will also be used to gather items needed to ensure Chris is comfortable once he is reunited with his family.
