My fiancé Christopher and I are facing an incredibly difficult time, and we’re reaching out for support as we try to rebuild our lives. I recently moved to Idaho to help care for Christopher’s son, Shane, and support his family, but soon after arriving, Christopher was arrested over a legal delta-8 pen. He’s unable to use the public defender due to a conflict of interest, and we’re struggling to cover the legal fees and related costs. Christopher is supposed to be on work release, but the officers have not given him his UA, and any communication with him comes at a cost. We got an extension on our car loan expecting work release, but it never came, and now the lenders are unforgiving. I am unable to work due to my health, so we’re at a breaking point.
This past year has been especially hard. I lost my husband to suicide, which left me with debt, no life insurance, and no survivor benefits because I was too young. He spent nine days in the ICU with blunt force injuries before passing, and I legally inherited some of that debt. I was facing eviction and the financial strain has only grown. My health is serious—my first week here ended in the hospital, and my last week in Idaho before moving permanently was the same. I struggle to afford copays and medication, and yesterday I had a seizure due to not having all my meds and the stress, which is my biggest trigger. I couldn’t go to the doctor because I already owe the hospital.
Faith, Shane’s mother, is pregnant with twins and works frequently despite complications. She faces her own car issues and financial strain, and we co-parent Shane closely as friends. I see her push through so much, and I want this cause to help her with her car, rent, and things for the baby. Shane is growing fast and needs new clothes, diapers, shoes, and furniture. Christopher and I hope to get our own place soon, but right now, our room lacks furniture and a place to put clothes. We also need help with legal fees, work release costs for Christopher, and support for Faith, who is missing child support. There are additional costs for laundry, internet, job training, and fixing my laptop, which is crucial for ongoing legal cases. We hope to pay down debts, fix our credit, and eventually furnish Christopher’s room so we can have a stable home for Shane.
We are reaching out for support during this incredibly challenging time. Any help you can offer will make a real difference for our family and for Faith as we all work to get back on our feet.
