For Christine, who is fighting metastatic cancer.
This fundraiser is being organized to support a very loved mother, teacher, and faithful member of the Greek Orthodox community on Long Island during an incredibly difficult time.
A devoted mother of five, she has spent many years serving and teaching within the Greek community. She currently teaches history at the William Spyropoulos School at St. Nicholas Church in Flushing, a role she began about two years ago. Interestingly, history was once her least favorite subject when she was a student herself. Because of that boring experience, she set out to become the teacher she never had — someone who could make history come alive and inspire students to truly enjoy learning it. Through her dedication and warmth, she has touched the lives of many children and families.
In addition to teaching at St. Nicholas, she has spent many years tutoring students in the Greek language and helping children stay connected to their heritage. She is also the author of the book Learning Greek with Kyria Christina, which has helped many families teach their children Greek.
Above all, she is a humble and pious Orthodox Christian woman who has always tried to live her life with faith, love, and service to others. Those who know her know how deeply her faith guides her life and how much she cares for her family, her students, and her community.
After bravely overcoming breast cancer in the past, her family has recently received heartbreaking news that the breast cancer has returned and has spread to her brain. On top of this devastating diagnosis, last summer she suffered a spinal fracture and will need spinal surgery meanwhile doctors are working to treat the brain mass.
This year is meant to be one of the most joyful years for her family. She is about to become a grandmother for the first time, as her second daughter who lives in Canada with her husband is expecting a baby this summer. Her oldest daughter is preparing for her wedding this summer as well, and the family was looking forward to celebrating these beautiful milestones together.
Instead, they are now facing an incredibly difficult road ahead.
With both parents currently unable to work as they focus on treatments, surgeries, and caring for their family, they are also supporting the four children still living at home while navigating this overwhelming situation.
Anyone who knows her knows how much love, faith, and dedication she has given to her students, her family, and her community throughout the years. Now the community that she has given so much to is coming together to support her and her family during this difficult time.
Any donation, prayer, or act of kindness will help ease the financial burden and allow the family to focus on what matters most: her care, her healing, and time with the people who love her most.
Thank you for keeping this family in your prayers and may God bless you!
