Christine is a dedicated surgery scheduler in the Neurosurgery department at University of Missouri Health Care. She is the primary source of income for her family, which includes her husband, their son and daughter, and Christine's father. Yesterday, their lives were turned upside down when a fire broke out in their son's bedroom at 5 am. The fire started in a ceiling light just above his bed, but thankfully, Christine and her husband noticed something was wrong in time to evacuate everyone safely. No one was injured, and the fire was contained quickly, but the damage was significant. The fire was determined to be electrical in origin, and now the family must address major electrical issues before utilities can be restored. They have also been told they will need a new roof and new siding.

Unfortunately, due to the overall condition of their house, Christine and her family were unable to qualify for homeowners' insurance. This means all repair costs must come out of their own pockets. Money is already very tight for the family, who often live paycheck to paycheck.
