Hi, my name is Anna-Carin, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my dear friend Christine—someone who has spent her life caring for others, especially animals. She’s warm, intuitive, and deeply compassionate.
On February 6, 2025, her life changed in an instant when she was in a terrible car accident.
Christine is currently in a wheelchair, facing multiple surgeries, a long recovery, and financial hardship. She didn’t ask for help, so I offered to do it for her—because she deserves to be supported right now. Below are her words, which I believe say it all.
From Christine:
Hi, my name is Christine.
I live on Social Security and have always supplemented my income by doing what I love most—pet sitting. I miss the dogs and cats I care for more than I can say. They bring me so much joy and purpose.
On February 6, 2025, I was driving home from the beach when I was in a devastating car accident in New Bern, NC. My foot was shattered—there was bone sticking out—and I also fractured my femur and broke my clavicle.
I was first taken to a local hospital, then transferred to ECU Trauma Center in Greenville. Since then, I’ve had three foot surgeries. I’m in a wheelchair. My clavicle has been repaired with minimal weight-bearing allowed, and my femur is healing slowly.
I was discharged from the hospital on February 28 but couldn’t find space in a local rehab facility. Thankfully, my soul sister—an orthopedic nurse—welcomed me into her home in Clayton. She and her family have been taking care of me ever since, getting me to doctor appointments, picking up medications, and helping with day-to-day needs.
While I’m incredibly grateful, I worry about the growing financial strain on all of us.
I’m still paying rent and bills on my apartment in Raleigh, even though I can’t live there. I have no income right now, and I’m afraid I’ll run out of money before I can walk again. I want to be able to help contribute to Anne’s household too—she’s given me so much.
How Your Support Will Help:
- Medical bills and prescriptions
- Transportation to/from Greenville for doctor appointments
- Groceries and household expenses for my caregivers
- Rent and utilities for my apartment
- Mobility aids, therapy, and recovery-related expenses
- Basic living support while I heal and regain independence
I’m humbled to share my story, and I’m so grateful for your kindness—whether you can donate or just help by sharing this with others.
With love,
Christine
