Help Me Represent Australia at the 2025 Deaflympics

Hi, I’m Christine Shin, and I’m thrilled to have been chosen to represent Australia in golf at the Deaflympics in Tokyo this November—an incredible milestone in my sporting journey.

I was born deaf. Although I now wear cochlear implants, growing up was challenging. It took years of speech therapy and hard work to learn how to speak clearly and communicate. I often felt left out, missed conversations, and struggled in noisy or group settings. But those challenges taught me resilience, patience, and determination.

Golf changed my life. I started playing at 12, and it quickly became more than a sport — it became a lifeline. It gave me confidence, patience, and discipline. It helped me connect with people from all walks of life. As my golf improved, I saw real growth in myself, both on and off the course.

Unlike Olympic and Paralympic athletes, Deaflympics athletes receive no funding. This means all training, travel, and competition costs are self-funded. Your support will help cover essential expenses like international travel, tournament entry fees, team uniforms, accommodation, insurance, and meals.

This opportunity is about more than personal achievement. I hope to become a role model and advocate for other individuals with disabilities who aspire to pursue their dreams—both in golf and beyond.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to Tokyo and allows me to proudly fly the Australian flag on the world stage.

Thank you for your support and for being part of this journey.
