Help Christine Recover From A Hemorrhagic Stroke

In late November 2020, Christine was moving furniture when she started to experience stroke-like symptoms. She quickly went to the hospital and spent the day at the emergency room while physicians ran a multitude of tests. On Jan 6th she learned she had been diagnosed with an AVM, and Arterial Venous Malformation and would need surgery as soon as possible. An AVM is a rare, abnormal connection between arteries and veins that usually occur in the brain or spine and can cause hemorrhaging in and around the brain.

On March 29th, Christine had her first embolization surgery. It was very successful. All but a small part of the troublesome AVM was left to be sealed off. So, a second surgery was scheduled to complete the embolization. During that second surgery on May 14th Christine became part of 0.07% of people that experience a mishap during this type of surgery. During the procedure, the blood vessel being embolized tore, leaking blood and dye onto her cerebral nuclei, causing a stroke.

Since then, she has experienced extreme weakness, has lost all feeling on her right side, and now has very limited mobility. At this time, she is unable to work. She is unable to clean, cook or care for herself or her family. She requires assistance with most things. We are hoping to raise funds to help ease the financial burden this stroke has placed on the family and make the recovery process less stressful. It will help to pay everyday expenses, extensive medical bills, and buy groceries, as well as provide transportation to and from the multiple forms of physical therapy that Christine will require for the next year. Although the full extent of her treatment is unknown at this time, we are hopeful that the funds raised will provide some assistance with her initial steps to a successful recovery.
