Hi, this is John and I am fundraising for the person who I’ve been together with for nearly 30 years. We’ve dated, married, divorced, married, co-parenting two amazing kids, and filed for divorce in May 2022 after 16 years of marriage. Our feelings for each other are complex to say the least, but I absolutely care for and love her greatly.
Things got a lot more complex last Sunday when she had a very large brain aneurysm rupture. She is in the Neurology Critical Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA. She had open surgery (craniotomy) where a piece of her skull was removed to give doctors access to the brain to repair her brain aneurysm with clips in two places. The piece of the skull was put back in place after surgery.
I have been with Christine in the hospital everyday and getting updates from her Neurology, Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Nursing teams multiple times a day since she was admitted depending on what exactly is happening clinically. This will be a very long, slow recovery process ahead. I’ll fight for her and getting her in a path to recovery as soon as possible.
As everyone reading this who knows Christine, she is tough and showed us that toughness this first week. She is strongly breathing on her own with no need for additional aides. She is moving more; however, she is not responding to specific commands from her care team.
In her current state, she will be in the Neuro ICU for weeks or months at a minimum due to the size and impact of her injury.
Funds raised will be used to pay her medical bills and the additional support needed for the kids in this very difficult time.
The kids and I continue to take things one day at a time as she progresses.
