On May 15, 2018, my Dad, Edward J. Flynn, Jr., was admitted to the hospital.  Today marks 100 continuous days of hospitalization with no discharge date in sight. 

Prior to May 15th, Dad was still working, driving, and contributing to society.  Since being admitted to the hospital, Dad has experienced more medical complications and medical tests than we ever imagined. 

Here is a small sampling of his medical issues:
A. Amputation of his right foot due to a severe infection
B. Acute Kidney Failure and Dialysis
C. Anemia
D. UTI
E. Orthostatic Hypotension
On top of all the medical issues, Dad has also been extremely confused since surgery.  No doctor can explain why his mental status has changed, but Mom and I continue to search for answers.

In the past 4 days, Dad has undergone an endoscopy, colonoscopy, CAT scan with contrast, MRI with contrast, bone biopsy, echocardiogram, and an x-ray.  It was discovered that Dad now has an infection in the  bone of his L4 and L5 section of his spine.  This type of infection requires 6 to 8 weeks of IV antibiotics. 

For the past 100 days, Mom and I have been tirelessly advocating for Dad.  We spend hours with him each day, make countless phone calls to doctors looking for answers, and talk to anyone who will listen who might shed light onto my Dad's unique, complicated case. 

I have decided to set up this fund for a few reasons:
1. To help pay for medical expenses.
2. To help pay for modifications to the house for Dad's new needs and lifestyle.
3. To help Mom pay for daily needs and bills.

If you are able to contribute anything towards helping my parents, Edward and Christine Flynn, I would deeply appreciate it.  They are the kindest, most thoughtful, genuine people I know.  I am lucky and proud to be their daughter.
