Help Christine after rehab

Donation protected
Hi everyone! We are Carrie Bishop and Cathy Rumfelt. We are Christine's dear friends in Athens, GA, and we are organizing this with a group of Christine's close friends that have been supporting her since her brain injury. This fundraiser is to raise money for Christine Mallozzi's care and living expenses after she is released from rehab at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Christine had an aneurysm rupture on Sunday, February 12, 2023, and she has been hospitalized since then. She spent five weeks at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, and with the help of her amazing care team, she made enough progress to start inpatient rehab at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Christine was admitted to the Shepherd Center on Monday, March 21. We expect Christine to be at Shepherd at least through the beginning of April, and this fundraiser is specifically to help Christine transition back into her home once she is ready to leave rehab.

The Shepherd Center required a discharge plan for Christine to be admitted. This plan had to include 24/7 care for (at least) 30 days post-rehab.
Christine is currently in the middle of a divorce and was living in a single adult household before her aneurysm.

Christine's strong network of close friends in Athens is working together to coordinate around-the-clock care. The plan is for her care to be provided by a combination of friends, family and hired caregivers. We are raising these funds to hire experienced caregivers and nurses if needed to cover her overnight care and help her transition from rehab to living in her house.

We know there is another fundraiser already started for Christine by John. His fundraiser has been earmarked for medical bills and support for the kids, which is why we've created this additional fundraiser to support Christine's care post-rehab. All of the money raised from this fundraiser will go directly to Christine, and she will be involved in decision-making as much as possible. It is our sincere hope that she'll be able to have a big say, or even complete control, over how her care is handled. We also talked to Christine about this fundraiser and are doing this with her permission.

We have opened a separate bank account for these funds and all of the money raised will be used for the following, in order of priority:

1) Hiring caregivers as needed to cover 24/7 care for Christine
2) Any modifications or accommodations needed for Christine's home
3) Living expenses since Christine is currently not able to work

If you know Christine, you know how strong and determined she is. She has already defied the odds with her recovery and progress, and we know she will keep going. We love her so much and we want to make sure she has everything she needs to come home and continue getting better!

If you have ANY questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you so much for your love and support of our amazing friend Christine!
