Hello my name is George Halpern and I'm the Co-owner of Pizzamore in Mount Dora. Last night we had flash flooding like I have never seen before. As I was Leaving the Restaurant around 10p.m. I got a text message in our Front of House group chat, saying I messed up, I need help. Our head server Christina Cortez was driving along Donnelly St. when the road had collapsed in front of her car. Thankfully she was able to stop in time right on the edge of what seemed like a massive drop off. she sent her location to me and I rushed down side roads to avoid the closures and get to her . Together we were able to gather her personal belongings and get her out of the passenger side in knee deep fast moving water. She was hysterical and in shock when i got her out, i truly believe she was intending to stay there and wait for assistance which would have had a much different outcome. Christina is a hard working, mother of two girls and she never asks for anything. She has been with Pizzamore almost 5 years now, her loyalty and hospitality speak for itself. Jesse and I will be providing a short term rental vehicle for her in hopes we can raise a few bucks to get her another reliable set of wheels. Any donations are much appreciated and we would also love if there are any reliable vehicles for sale locally that you would please share them to our page.
