Hi, my name is Christiansen Beatty. Many people know me as Manny. I'm 52 years old and a proud resident of Providence, RI. I've worked hard all my life, 15 years with The Department of Recreation, labor jobs after that and AAA for 2 years. However my journey had taken an unexpected turn.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with heart failure. In 2014, Tufts Medical in Boston surgically implanted a device called a LVAD to help my heart pump until I could have a heart and kidney transplant. When I was cleared I went back to work part-time. After 1 1/2 years, I received the call to have the surgery. While the recovering process was tough, I was fortunate enough to return to work full-time when my health improved.
Unfortunately, life threw another challenge my way. For the past 5 years, I've been on Dialysis and I developed Neuropathy in my feet. I go three times a week for 4 1/2 hours. I am going through the evaluation process to get another kidney. This has impacted my ability to work. As a result, I am now considered disabled and rely on social security benefits. However these benefits only cover a fraction of my living expenses, and I'm struggling to make ends meet.
Despite these challenges, my optimism and determination to work again haven't wavered. I have several goals that I am working toward, but I need help to make them a reality.
1. Physical Recovery: I need to get back to the gym, so I can build strength in my body to work again and improve my health in preparation for my next kidney transplant.
2. Reliable Transportation: I need to get my car back on the road. So I can attend medical appointments, get to the gym and go shopping and do other errands.
3. Covering medical bills and Essentials: I need financial assistance to keep up with my medical bills, medicine, co-pays, home supplies, utilities, rent and register and get my car inspected, and the first month for car insurance.
Your donation will help me move closer to these goals, and in return help me regain some independence and dignity, as I continue to fight for my health and future. Thank you for considering to supporting me during this challenging time. Every contribution, no matter how small is deeply appreciated. Again thank you.
