Help Christiana Have Life Changing Leg Surgery

Hi, I'm Dan and I'm helping fundraise for Christiana, a friend from Sierra Leonne who had a major leg injury. She needs urgent medical surgery or she will have intense pain for the rest of her life while walking.

She originally posted this on her Chinese fundraiser, and I am posting it on Gofundme to try raise more support from overseas and facilitate the transfer to her.

Here is what she posted:

“Dear friends, teachers and classmates:

My name is Christiana Sara McCarty. I am 29 years old and I come from Sierra Leone, West Africa. I am a student at the School of International Development and Cooperation of the University of International Business and Economics.

Fate was cruel. I suffered severe injuries to my legs and knees and was diagnosed with a 【fracture of the right tibial plateau】. The doctor urgently warned that an operation must be performed as soon as possible; otherwise, more complications would arise. However, the cost of the surgery was high and the road to recovery was long and arduous.

Worse still, this accident occurred before my scholarship program began, which meant that the medical insurance attached to the scholarship couldn't cover my expenses as it only covered unexpected situations during the program period. I come from a not very wealthy family, and with this huge medical bill, I really have no choice but to do nothing. Every passing minute could potentially worsen my condition and cause me to miss the best treatment opportunity.

Once, with dreams and hopes in my heart, I came here, eager to change my fate through knowledge. I have also been always willing to help those around me. Now, fate has played such a big joke on me. But I still long to overcome the illness and return to the campus to continue pursuing my dreams.

Here, I sincerely ask all of you to lend a helping hand. She needs about 80000 RMB for the surgery. So far she has raised 7875 RMB, which means she still needs about $16k aud.

The needs two surgeries, a leg surgery which is 15k RMB and a knee one which is 65k RMB.

She currently is on scholarship studying in China, and has a fundraiser set up there. I have set up this, and will have the funds transferred to her.
