Early Monday morning, around 1:30 a.m., Christian was asleep and I was still awake getting ready for bed (thank goodness). I suddenly heard glass shattering in our living room. At first, we thought it was an intruder, but when we looked out of the bedroom, giant flames were pouring into our living room from the front porch.
We are incredibly thankful we made it out safely and in time, as the fire quickly took over the house after we ran out and called 911. Our lives have now been turned upside down because of this devastating fire, which destroyed our home. We lost nearly everything inside, our belongings, clothes, furniture, and the place we called home. Over the past three years, we worked tirelessly on our house, fixing it up, making it our own, and we were finally getting to a point where we were so proud of it. It likely will need to be demolished completely now.
Almost all of our animals are safe as well, but we sadly lost our two little crested geckos in the fire.
This has been an incredibly difficult time, and while we’re grateful for our safety, we now face the challenge of starting over from scratch. Asking for help does not come easily to us, but in this situation, we are reaching out for support to help us rebuild our lives.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference as we navigate this painful transition. Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this with friends and family would mean the world.
The funds will go directly to clothing, food/groceries, furniture and household items, pet food and care costs, gas, the cost of demolition and clean up of what we have remaining of our old house, temporary housing, and any other recovery expenses that may come up.
We are deeply grateful for the kindness, generosity, and prayers of those supporting us during this time.
With love,
Madeline & Christian
