For those of you who do not know who Christian Black is, he is the young man to the far left of this picture. A little back story on him and his family: The Black Family has been in the BMX racing community for as long as I can remember. The family is always full of joy and always brings laughter and smiles wherever they go. Along with BMX, the family is also into Downhill Mountain Biking. The family is well rounded and a wonderful family to know and be around.
Unfortunately Christian spent his 16th birthday in the hospital this year. March 21st of 2021, he experienced a life threatening injury. On just a normal day of riding, Christian, myself and two of our friends took a trip to the Port Jervis Pump Track. 20 minutes into riding Christian had looped out and fell on the pump track. When I arrived to him, his first words to me were "I cannot feel my legs". After contacting 911 and his parents (Frank and Terra Black), Christian was Air Flighted to UC Health West Chester Trauma center. Christian experienced the following injuries (C7 Break to his spine, Broken Femur, damage and lacerations to his vertebral artery). Christian went through multiple x-rays, cat scans, and a MRI. Along with this, Christian went through 3 surgeries. The first surgery was to repair his artery, the second was to put a spinal cage around C6 and C7 of his spine, the third was to put a rod in his leg for the broken femur. The surgeries all went extremely well and he is resting and recovering at this time. Christian will have to undergo months of physical therapy to hopefully make a full recovery. I am starting this fund raiser to support Christian and his family during this difficult time. The family has incurred an enormous amount of expenses between medical procedures and traveling to the facility. Any donation of any size would mean the World!
