Help Christian Get to Yale!

Hello to my community and world at large!

For those who don't know, my name is Christian Jordan Smith, and I'm an actor currently based in Los Angeles, CA. I am excited to announce that I have recently been granted admission to the illustrious David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University, where I will pursue my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Acting this fall. Out of 1600+ applicants and a rigorous audition process, I was fortunate to be selected to train alongside 15 other incredible artists for three years. This is a career-defining opportunity, a chance for deep transformation within my humanity and artistry, which I have intensely prayed for.

Furthering my education has become more pivotal than ever. As I have tried to work professionally, I’ve realized I don’t have a well-defined process to be the transformational artist I want to be. I’m still learning how to get out of the way and allow the heart of my characters to live through me. My time spent at Yale will allow me to define a process that is uniquely my own and acquire new and innovative tools so that I can have longevity in this business.

After receiving my MFA from Yale, I want to give back to my community as an educator. As someone who grew up with limited resources and has continued to struggle to afford acting education as an adult, it’s important to me that I bring the tools and skills I’ve mastered at Yale back to the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, where access to professional training and mentorship is often inaccessible.

I have received a full tuition scholarship from Yale; however, this does not fully cover my living expenses or moving costs from Los Angeles, CA, to New Haven, CT. With this in mind, I am humbly seeking support.
