Hi!
My name is Christian De Luca, an Italian pianist recently graduated from The Juilliard School. 

I am in the process of applying for a O-1 Artist Visa, which is given to people of "extraordinary ability" in their field, and would allow me to perform and teach in the United States for the next three years, if it gets approved.

The total expenses related to the Visa application amount to $5,500 ($3,500 for the lawyer fees, and $2000 for the estimated government fees).

I moved to New York in 2014 as a student, and started supporting myself right after my graduation in May 2018. I can proudly say that I have been able to survive the expenses of New York so far, and even start saving up for my Visa application, through private teaching and concertizing.

I was able to pay a first installment of $2,000, which allowed me to start working with a trusted lawyer expert in immigration matters, who is now helping me file the Visa application. 

My hope is to combine whatever I can get from this campaign with the money I have currently saved, in order to be able to afford the remainder of the lawyer fees and the hestimated government fees that I would have to pay upon filing the application.

My current Visa will expire on June 30th, and for this reason, I am planning to submit my Visa application by the end of the first week of May. That would allow my Visa to hopefully get approved in time for a few concert engagements that I will have in California in July.

If my Visa gets approved, not only will I be able to accept future concert engagements in the United States, but I will be also able to start exciting projects involving fortepiano, which is something other than modern piano that I have been focusing on for the past four years - the main picture of this campaign was taken during the finals of the 1st Early Piano competition in Berkeley, CA, which I won in June 2018.

I dream of more oportunities for young talented musicians to explore the historical performance practice on fortepiano in New York, in accordance with The American Classical Orchestra's goal of making fortepiano mainstream. 


That is why I really cared of setting up a fundraiser house concert for my Visa expenses, where I will play on fortepiano not just as a soloist, but also collaborating with two amazing collegues and friends from the Historical Performance department at Juilliard.
The concert will take place in the beautiful Upper East Side apartment of Mrs. Pearl Gerstel, on Sunday, April 28th, at 5:30 PM, New York time. I will do my best to live stream the performance on Facebook - please, stay tuned for more updates in the next few days.

Indipendently from the practical, fundraising aspect of the concert, it meant a lot to me to be able to organize such an event, as I hope this idea will develop in something bigger in the future, such as a small concert series in New York involving fortepiano and other period instruments.

With a donation of $1,000, you will get all the previous gifts, plus constant updates on the development of the fortepiano concert series in New York that I plan to start if my Visa gets approved, as well as two free tickets and reserved seats for every concerts of its first season.

With a donation of $2,500, you will get all the previous gits, plus two free tickets and reserved seats for all the concert engagements that I will get in New York for the entire duration of the Artist Visa that I am trying to get.

Mi chiamo Christian De Luca, e sono un pianista italiano, recentemente laureatosi alla Juilliard School di New York.
 
Sono in procinto di fare domanda per un Visto artistico O-1, che viene conferito solo a persone dalle "abilità straordinarie" nel loro campo, e che mi permetterebbe di esibirmi ed insegnare negli Stati Uniti per i prossimi tre anni qualora venisse approvato.
 
Le spese totali relative alla domanda di visto ammontano a $ 5,500 ($ 3,500 per le spese legali e $ 2000 per le spese governative stimate).
 
Mi sono trasferito a New York nel 2014 come studente e ho iniziato a mantenermi da solo subito dopo la mia laurea conseguita a maggio del 2018. Posso dire con orgoglio di essere riuscito a sopravvivere all'alto costo della vita di New York fino ad ora, nonché a mettere da parte dei soldi per la domanda di visto tramite l'insegnamento privato e il concertismo.
 
Sono stato in grado di pagare una prima rata di $ 2,000, che mi ha permesso di iniziare a lavorare con un gruppo di avvocati di fiducia, esperti in ambito di immigrazione, i quali mi stanno attualmente seguendo nelle pratiche necessarie all'avvio della domanda.
 
Il mio obiettivo è quello di poter unire i fondi che spero di ottenere da questa campagna con ciò che sono riuscito a risparmiare, così da potermi permettere il costo rimanente delle spese legali, nonché le tasse governative stimate, da pagare al momento di inoltro della richesta del visto.
 
Il mio visto attuale scadrà il 30 giugno 2019 e, per questo motivo, spero di riuscire a presentare la domanda per il nuovo tipo di visto entro la fine della prima settimana di maggio. Ciò dovrebbe garantire l'approvazione del visto artistico in tempo utile per poter prendere parte a degli impegni concertistici in California, che si terranno a luglio.

Se il visto verrà approvato, non solo sarò in grado di accettare future opportunità concertistiche negli Stati Uniti, ma anche di avviare entusiasmanti progetti riguardanti il fortepiano, che è un'altra mia passione su cui mi sono focalizzato negli ultimi quattro anni, senza perdere di vista il mio interesse per il pianoforte moderno (la foto principale di questa campagna di raccolta fondi è stata scattata durante le finali della prima edizione del Concorso per Pianoforte Storico di Berkeley, in California, che ho vinto nel giugno del 2018).
 
Il mio songo è creare molte più opportunità che permettano ai giovani musicisti di talento di esplorare la prassi esecutiva al fortepiano a New York, in accordo con l'obiettivo della American Classical Orchestra, che si batte per rendere il fortepiano uno strumento più accessibile al grande pubblico.


Questo è il motivo per cui ci ho tenuto particolarmente ad organizzare questo concerto di raccolta fondi, dove mi esibirò al fortepiano non solo come solista, ma anche collaborando con due eccezionali colleghi ed amici, attualmente iscritti al programma della Historical Performance alla Juilliard.

Indipendentemente dall'aspetto pratico e di raccolta fondi del concerto, per me è stato molto importante poter riuscire ad organizzare un evento simile, poiché spero che questa idea si sviluppi in qualcosa di più grande in futuro, come una piccola stagione concertistica a New York che coinvolga giovani musicisti riuniti nel nome del fortepiano ed altri strumenti d'epoca.
