Hi, my name is Christal. Late July, I left the state of Oregon to start a new life as a single mom of 3. My household is now down to 2 kiddos. This is the first time I have gone without work for months due to childcare. I have been staying with my sister, and we do get food stamps and TANF, but that goes to groceries and our half of the rent.

It has been 5 months, and I have not been able to help much with bills, and my sister has been paying what she can. We did get partial help with electricity, but we're still very behind. We even got our water disconnected a few weeks ago, but thankfully, my sister paid part of it, and it was back running.

Currently, even though I'm not working, I am in school full-time to do my prerequisites to be a doctor. I help my family clean here and there, but don't make much, and it's used for necessities. Recently, my 4-year-old was diagnosed with Autism Level 2, and my 6-year-old with ADHD. I reached out to family and friends for Christmas since we are tight on money and was truly blessed. One of the providers I worked with asked if we needed anything else, and I said no, but remembered that we have to get caught up on bills. And hopefully help my sister out and not be so stressed out.
