On Christmas Eve, our family’s world was turned upside down when my mom was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), with her blood sugar dangerously high at 820. This was a life-threatening emergency, and it came completely unexpectedly.
For the past seven years, my mom has been bravely fighting cancer. Throughout that time, she endured countless treatments, appointments, and side effects with incredible strength. Recently, she stopped her cancer treatment, which was an immunotherapy. While that treatment helped fight the cancer, it also caused a devastating and permanent side effect it triggered her immune system to attack her pancreas, leaving her body unable to produce insulin.
As a result, she is now insulin-dependent for life.
Because of this sudden medical crisis, my mom has been unable to work. She is now facing regular expenses, and the ongoing cost of managing diabetes — insulin, supplies, doctor visits, and medications — all while trying to recover physically and emotionally from everything her body has been through.
My mom has always been the kind of person who gives before she asks. Asking for help does not come easily to her, but right now she truly needs support. Any donation, no matter how small, will help cover:
Healthy eating
Insulin and diabetes supplies
Rent, utilities, and basic living expenses while she is out of work
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Your support, prayers, kindness, and encouragement mean more than we can put into words.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping my mom during this incredibly difficult time.
