Chrissy Asbury is the most amazing, strong and resilient woman you will ever meet. Since Chrissy was diagnosed 15 years ago with a very extremely rare and fast-growing cancer called GIST. GIST stands for Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor. During these past 15 years, this single mom of daughters of Blaze and Hayden has basically been a Guinea pig with four surgeries and two different chemo regiments. Doctors label Chrissy as a miracle.
Now, only 18 months since Chrissy’s last surgery, her cancer has returned on the inside of the stomach and esophagus wall. In Chrissy’s words, “I need to have a much more complicated surgery in order to have more time on earth.”
The surgery involves complete removal of the esophagus and stomach. They will take a chunk of her colon and attach it where the esophagus and stomach would be. Chrissy will be on a liquid diet for a while and hopefully eventually be back to a somewhat normal diet.
Initially, Chrissy had decided against surgery due to quality of life issues. But when she found out that she only had a few months to a year to live without surgery; some of those issues became instantly less important! It is amazing how immanent death can change your mind. Chrissy said.
Chrissy and her family need our financial help. Chrissy will be having her surgery in Oakland California. The family will need funds for food, housing to be near their mom, and living and recovery expenses. Won’t you please consider joining me in helping this precious lady.
