Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
I’m reaching out on behalf of Chrislyn, a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and co-worker who is facing a long and unexpected medical journey following a serious health setback.
Chrislyn was diagnosed with intracranial hypertension nearly a decade ago—a condition that causes excessive pressure inside the skull due to fluid buildup. In recent months, her condition worsened significantly. She began suffering from debilitating migraines and underwent a lumbar puncture late last year. Her cranial pressure tested dangerously high at 38 (normal range is 7–15), and while temporary relief was achieved, the medication prescribed wasn’t enough to manage the condition.
After consulting with neurologists and neurosurgeons, it was determined that she needed a lumbar peritoneal shunt to help continuously drain excess fluid and prevent permanent damage to her optic nerves—which could lead to blindness.
Chrislyn underwent surgery on Monday, July 28th at TMH in Tallahassee, and though the surgery initially appeared successful, things quickly took a terrifying turn. She experienced severe nausea and intense headaches, which were initially believed to be normal side effects of the shunt. But just days later, she began experiencing abnormal breathing and suddenly suffered a seizure at home.
She was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where a CT scan revealed bleeding on the brain. Soon after, doctors discovered a blood clot in a major artery supplying her brain. Her condition became critical.
Chrislyn was admitted to the ICU, and doctors are now carefully treating both the brain bleed and the clot—a delicate balance of dissolving the clot without worsening the bleed. Thanks to the power of prayer, love, and excellent care, she is slowly improving. Her scans are looking more positive, and she’s becoming more responsive each day.
But this journey is far from over.
Chrislyn had initially arranged for just a few weeks off from her job at Pilot/Flying J in Midway to recover from surgery. Instead, she now faces an uncertain and extended road to recovery, including potential home modifications or even relocation to accommodate her needs when she returns home. In addition, the loss of income, medical bills, co-pays, travel expenses, and upcoming care needs are already becoming overwhelming.
We are humbly asking for your help—whether that’s through a financial donation, a share of this campaign, or continued prayers for Chrislyn’s recovery.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
• Covering lost wages during recovery
• Medical expenses and copays
• Home modifications or relocation if needed
• Travel and caregiving costs for her family
Chrislyn is strong, brave, and fighting through every moment. Your support—no matter how small—means the world to her and our entire family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
The Poughs ❤️
