Hello all, I am raising money for my son and his family. They were expecting a new baby next month. Unfortunately, both his wife and baby were having complications, and they needed to perform an emergency C-section on 6/21 due to both the mother's health and the baby's as well. When the baby was born she was not breathing properly, and they had to take the baby to the NICU to get her on a breathing tube and install a feeding tube into the umbilical cord. They then got the baby into an ambulance to transport her to Children's Hospital in Boston from UMASS in Worcester. He had to leave his wife and drive to Boston to be with the new baby. It was found that the baby had a rare birth defect called Esophageal Atresia, which is where the baby was born without part of the esophagus leading to her stomach. Surgeons had to take the baby in for 6 hours of surgery to repair this condition on 6/22. His wife was thankfully able to be transported to Beth Israel for recovery, which is a few blocks from Children's Hospital. My son just started a new job recently and is not sure if he has been there long enough to be able to get some form of disability pay. They also have 3 other children at home. I am hoping to try and raise some money so they are not having to stress over paying their bills while dealing with the stress of their new baby as well. The baby will need to stay in the hospital NICU for at least 3 more weeks. If you have the ability to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Chris W.
