Hello.
I’m fundraising for my son who has serious mental health and addiction issues and needs long term treatment. After many years of struggle with major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and perhaps other undiagnosed mental issues, he chose to go into inpatient treatment. The facility that he was inpatient burned in the third week he was there. Everyone was evacuated to a hotel and he was discharged by the treatment program after a one night hotel stay. He did not want to be discharged. It is still very questionable as to why they virtually kicked him out of treatment. The results for him were devastating.
I believe, as a RN and his mom, that in addition to his mental disorders, he is suffering from PTSD after the fire. Homeless, his mental status continued to decline to the point of turning back to drugs and alcohol to self medicate in an attempt to be “normal”.
He was arrested on a DUI with bodily injury and is in jail awaiting his hearing. A good attorney is needed to help him get the treatment and psychiatric care that he needs so desperately. He has never been arrested before in his life.
