My name is Jennifer Warren,
I am starting this fundraiser for my beloved sister, Chris Goeggel.
On May 1st she and her sons lost their husband and father, after many months in the hospital from congestive heart failure.
The past 5 years have been incredibly difficult for her and her family. Back in the beginning of 2020, Jeff was let go from his job of several years. He was forced into retirement and had to go on Social Security for survival. Chris was unable to work as she has stenosis of the spine and has made it incapable for her to work. In February 2021, Jeff suffered a massive heart attack, while in surgery, the drill broke inside his heart, causing him to lose oxygen for several minutes. This resulted in severe cognitive decline. One month later, our sister Stephanie suddenly passed away. Chris was already suffering from major hip pain and was in need of double hip replacement. With Jeff’s illness, she put her health off. In 2023, she lost her insurance as her program was no longer accepted by Providence. This caused them to have to pay cash for every doctor she had to see. It set them back financially. She sees a cardiologist as well as a pulmonologist so the bills were starting to pile up. She was in the hospital for a week last year with her heart and lung issues as well.
This past December, Jeff suffered another heart attack. He was in the hospital for 1 week and sent home. He was to begin cardiac therapy and went to his appointment, there he suffered another attack and was literally ambulanced to the hospital from the office across the street. There he was told he had congestive heart failure and needed new stents to help with blood flow. He was very weak, but they succeeded in clearing the blocked arteries and added 3 more stents, however, his heart was not strong enough to push the blood through. After a month in St. Jude, his cardiologist sent him by ambulance to UCLA for specific care that they couldn’t provide. 3 days later, he went into cardiac arrest, he survived it, but needed a heart transplant. So he was placed on a ventilator and heart pump. He was basically sedated into a coma, day by day he seemed to be improving, sitting up for 2 minutes here and there, so they felt it was time to remove the ventilator, he received a tracheotomy. They were very encouraged and waited a week and decided to remove the heart pump. He was eating, sitting for 15 minutes, FaceTiming Chris several times a day and looked to be getting better. Shortly after the pump was removed, he had another cardiac arrest and we lost him. He fought a valiant fight, he so wanted to be home with Chris, their son and his dog. Chris has put off her hip surgery 3 times, she is finally having it this May 15th. They’ve been through more than most and had no life insurance as Jeff has had type 1 diabetes from childhood, cancer and heart issues. I am respectfully asking for those who are able to, to kindly donate to this fund. She doesn’t have the money for his funeral. She’s never been one to ask for help, so I am doing it for her. You have all been so incredible…showing all of your love, support and prayers. Thank you so much for being there for our family. Words cannot express our love and gratitude. May God bless you all and keep you and yours healthy and happy.
