On 7/16 in a local ER, Chris and I were given the shocking news that he has a brain mass/tumor that was causing the frightening neurological symptoms that sent us to the ER that day. After talking with two different neurosurgeons, we were given the devastating news by both physicians that the mass is highly suspected to be malignant due to imaging shows the mass is consistent with a high grade glioma. Chris is now scheduled for brain surgery next week on 8/7, which will more than likely be followed by at least one month of cancer treatments.

We have decided to pursue his care through a hospital more than two hours away from our home to try and ensure he gets the best care and outcome possible. While a definitive diagnosis will not be made until after his surgery, we have been given the worst-case scenario of 14 months and possible permanent loss of some of his speech functions due to the mass being in the speech center of his brain. But of course his team of doctors' ultimate goal will be to give him many more years to live, which is what we are all praying for. He will be unable to work for at least three months while undergoing treatment.
