Let's not be a society where a child murderer gets more support than loving cats and kittens and the people who love helping them.
I’m Chris, founder of the emerging Jacksonville shelter/rescue initiative, Cali's Kitty Friends, showcased at https://jaxcats.org. After relocating from Fort Lauderdale, I saw firsthand how serious the stray cat situation is in Jacksonville. Many cats are not spayed or neutered, litters are born constantly, and a lot of animals are suffering outdoors.
In response, I began converting my home into a temporary shelter that focuses on rescuing adoptable kittens and providing safe housing for vulnerable cats. Our mission also includes supporting TNR efforts for feral adults so we can reduce population growth and improve the well-being of the community.
This fundraiser will help us take care of the kitties in our care first, complete the legal steps to become a formal nonprofit, update our equipment and facilities, and then build a catio so the cats have a safe outdoor space.
Right now, I have 7 kitties who are ready for adoption once their medical needs are taken care of. Your support will go first to getting them healthy and ready for homes.
What your donation supports, in order of priority
- Medical care for the cats currently in my home — spay and neuter, vaccinations, exams, and treatments so our listed kitties can be adopted
- Nonprofit filing — costs with the State of Florida and the IRS so we can operate as a formal nonprofit
- Equipment and facility updates — live traps for safe TNR work, cameras and equipment for kitten livestreams on jaxcats.org, daily care supplies including food and litter, and the upgrades we need to run a safer, more capable shelter
- A large outdoor catio attached to my home so the cats have a safe place to play and relax
Please help us give the cats of Jacksonville a real chance at safety, care, and a better life. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
