Help Chris recover from pneumonia

Donation protected
I met Chris Leensvaart about six years ago, and our two families have been close ever since.
If you know Chris, he never asks for much from anyone. Luckily for him, I’m the one doing the asking, and it is my pleasure to do so for a good man and his family.

Chris was taken to the hospital for difficulty breathing in the middle of July. Chris and Renee soon discovered that Chris had COP - Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia. It is not an infection causing his difficulty breathing; it is a complication from having had COVID the month before.
Two days later, Chris was placed on a ventilator. Three days later, Chris was taken by helicopter to Medical City Plano to start receiving ECMO treatments. After his first week of ECMO treatments, Chris had a tracheostomy.
While Chris is making positive strides, they are small. Recently Renee was reminded by one of the nurses, who said, “All things considered, he’s improving, and today things look better than yesterday, but in perspective, he is one of the sickest patients in the hospital. “
This will be a long hospital stay, at least a month, maybe longer. Then recovery will start.
We’re starting this GoFundMe to help the family to cover the cost of all the medical expenses that are happening and are yet to come. Any amount would be appreciated if you’re inclined/able to give. If you’ve read this far, you can help by sharing Chris’s story and journey with your friends and family.
