Hi, I’m Chris.
Before recent injuries turned my life upside down, I lived an active, outdoor life as an ultrarunner and cyclist. I worked as an application developer, spun pizza on the side, and was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2024 while working with several local nonprofits. Most importantly, I was a dad to three amazing kids.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve been diagnosed with avascular necrosis (osteonecrosis) affecting everything from the waist down, my hips, knees, and beyond.
Combined with severe spinal damage, I’m now in a wheelchair, a reality I never saw coming.
Right now, I’m trying to regain even a small fraction of my independence. Something as simple as leaving the house has become a logistical challenge that requires help from others every step of the way.
I’ve already undergone major surgeries, including spine surgery, a full hip replacement, and I have more procedures ahead. Recovery is slow, painful, and uncertain, but I’m still here, still fighting.
This fundraiser is about restoring some independence, whether that’s mobility equipment, transportation solutions, or simply covering the basic costs of living while I navigate disability and continued medical care.
If you’re able to help, I’m incredibly grateful. If not, sharing this goes a long way.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
—Christopher
