Chris Young walked to a friend's house on Friday, February 6th, 2026, and returned a little later in the day to find his home destroyed! He is left with just the clothes he was wearing and nothing else—no jackets, no boots, no food, nothing. He wasn't able to insure the house since it was an older mobile home and no insurance company would insure him.
He got a small amount from the Red Cross to get a hotel room for a couple of nights, but when that runs out this weekend, he will be on his own. He is now facing a cold winter with no money, no clothes, no food, and no place to live.
He has always had to work hard to get what he had, now that is all gone. The fire department believes his pellet stove exploded, but no one knows why. You can see the story here to see that this is a legitimate need for a local person who didn't deserve this kind of bad luck. https://www.centralmaine.com/2026/02/06/west-gardiner-home-gutted-by-fire/
Any help would be greatly appreciated as he struggles to find a way to rebuild from this tragedy.
