Help Chris Ray Fight Multiple Serious Infections

Story:

My name is Alex Ray, and I’m writing on behalf of my husband, Chris Ray, and our family. We are walking through one of the most frightening and overwhelming seasons of our lives, and we are humbly asking for help.

On January 17, 2026, Chris began experiencing massive amounts of pain. We knew something wasn’t right. I took him to the ER on January 20, and again on January 27, desperately searching for answers as his condition continued to worsen.

When things did not improve, I took him to the Medical University of South Carolina on February 4, 2026, for further testing and treatment. That’s when we learned how serious this truly was. The infection had spread from his back into his bloodstream and traveled all the way down to his foot.

Since being admitted, Chris has already undergone two surgeries in an effort to stop the spread of the infection. He is currently fighting multiple infections throughout his body, and his recovery is going to take time, strength, and continued medical care.

What started as pain quickly became a life-threatening medical emergency.

Chris is a loving husband and an incredible father. Our two children — along with their best friends — constantly ask when Dad is coming home. They worry in ways children shouldn’t have to, and we are doing everything we can to stay strong for them and shield them from the weight of this struggle.

Watching our children try to understand why their father is in the hospital has been one of the hardest parts of this journey.

Right now, Chris’s focus needs to be on fighting these infections and healing. But the financial pressure is building quickly. Between multiple ER visits, hospital care, two surgeries, specialists, testing, and ongoing treatment, the medical bills are already overwhelming. On top of that, we are facing everyday living expenses while he is unable to work.

We are asking for help to cover:

Hospital and surgical expenses

Medications and follow-up care

Travel and transportation costs

Basic household bills while Chris recovers
