Hello Everyone! My name is Christopher Neal. I currently attend UNC-Wilmington as a rising senior majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in Africana Studies. Over my past three years attending UNCW, I have been heavily involved in student life, especially Black student life. I have been an advocate for change for the Black community at UNCW. During freshman year, I co-founded Rhyme 'N' Reason, UNCW's poetry club/troupe, and was the president these past 3 years. Sophomore and Junior year, I became a founding member for Black Boy Joy (BBJ): a black men's union, apart of Dean's Advisory Council, members of multiple organizations, and a federal work study for the Upperman African American Cultural Center, apart of UPPStarts: an initiative created by the Upperman Center to develop skills in special event planning for undergraduate and graduate students.
In this current year, I have the honor of serving as Black Student Union President and still apart of the Dean's Advisory Council. In the past couple of weeks, BSU and other black student organizations have been meeting with administrative staff in order to make impactful change on our campus.
I currently have a paid fellowship with You Can Vote, a non-partisan organization in North Carolina who train and mobilize volunteers to educate, register, and empower all North Carolina citizens to cast their ballot. During the school year, I work as a Federal Work Study for the Upperman African American Cultural Center. Even working both of these jobs, it is still a struggle to pay for my education without taking out a mass amount of loans in the process (private & school).
I need help to fund my education (tuition, housing , fees, etc.) in order to keep creating change and making sure that UNCW is a better place before I leave. I pay for 100% of my schooling, meanwhile having other responsibilities to pay for (bills, car, food, etc.). I promise you, your funds will be going towards a good cause and will be making a difference in my life, student lives, and UNCW . Below will be a breakdown of my bill for school. I plan on graduating Fall 2021, so I have 3 semesters left.
The due date for my e-bill is now January 28th!

Tuition: $1,801.20
Student Fees: $239.96
Housing: $4,090
Meal Plan (80 Meal Swipes & $250 Food Dollars): $1,088.88
Books & Supplies: $80-150
Financial aid covers: $5,211.00
Estimated total including aid: $2,008.08
