Help Chris Padden

Hello everyone! My brother-in-law, Chris Padden, suffered a severe brain injury back in August and has been in the hospital and now a rehab facility ever since. From what we know he had a brain hemorrhage and then fell while alone in his apartment in Austin. We are not exactly sure how long he was suffering from his injury until he was found and rushed to the hospital but believe it could have been several hours. Thank goodness his mother, Marilyn, started getting concerned when she didn’t hear from him by 2pm, as she always talks to him earlier than that and called the apartment manager to check on him. The manager couldn’t get him to answer the door and finally had to call the Austin Police. The police officer found him on his bed bleeding and incoherent but responding to commands. He was rushed to the hospital where he had to have immediate brain surgery to relieve the pressure and bleeding. My in-laws, Brian and Marilyn, rushed down to Austin from Dallas where they spent countless hours awaiting Chris’ condition and future prognosis. As you know, with the pandemic, they were restricted on visitation and of course this made the situation that much worse.

After being hospitalized for over three weeks (two different hospitals in Austin area) and then placed in a long-term rehab facility, he is slowing recovering from his brain trauma. He has now been transported to Plano area and is closer to his family which has been so much better for him and Brian and Marilyn. They visit him every day.  He has limited mobility on the right side of his body due to the brain trauma on the left side of his brain, but he is now able to talk and is getting stronger every day but still needs the rehab assistance. With the cost of the rehab facility being over $11,000 a week (yes, I said a week) his family can’t afford to keep him there much longer. He is going to have to come home to live with Brian and Marilyn and this will be a hardship on them physically and financially.

Chris lost his job almost a year ago and has no medical insurance currently and the hospital and rehab bills are endless at this point and still has a long way to go with medical needs and costs. Those of you who know Chris knows that he had a lifesaving kidney transplant over 7 years ago.  He’s a fighter and with your assistance you can help him fight and get him back to be the Chris we all know and love.

If you can find it in your heart to donate any amount you can, our family would truly appreciate the assistance. Any donation amount counts!

Thank you in advance!
