TL, DR: I bought a used car a year ago and was told the inspection was clear. It's a year later and the car is almost unusable with the number of repairs it needs. Any money donated (I'm trying not to ask for any more than I really need) will go towards a down payment on a new (to me) used car. I would love to continue being able to attend rehearsals and get to and from work without either draining my savings or having to sell one of my instruments.

Long Version:

Bought a used car last August and was shown a clean inspection. Within a week, the car would randomly not turn on. It took a month of getting stranded in Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton, replacing car batteries, and 4 different service diagnostics to figure out it was the inhibitor switch (essentially the car didn't know what gear it was in so it wouldn't turn on). That should have been my first sign, but issues just kept popping up. With the cost of towings and repairs, I've essentially paid the same in repairs than I did for the car itself. It became a running joke at work if my car was gonna turn on when I left. Because the car was in a worse state than I really knew, the repairs were more costly and I had to get on multiple payment plans for major repairs (3 total, 2 more currently being paid off). The more I paid for repairs, the less money I had to get a different car, and I've now found myself in this hole. It's honestly been so much that I repressed some of what happened just because it was needing to be serviced so often.

The reason I bought the car in the first place is because I had been using my parents' car and hit a transmission issue with it that would've cost me $6,000. I figured I could cut my losses and get my own car for that, so I paid to ship my parents' car back to them in North Carolina. At this point, it would've been cheaper and less emotionally taxing to put that on a payment plan and keep the car.

I truly wouldn't be asking if I wasn't desperate, I'd drive this car until it disintegrated if I had to if it meet getting to all the work and rehearsals I've obligated myself to. Shoutout to Kevin and Turner and Katelyn and people giving me rides when my car has died or been unreliable and everyone who has given me grace in missing/being late for things with this whole situation.

I only want what I know I need, if I can get enough money for a decent down payment, I can situate monthly payments. I feel weird enough even doing this in the first place. Thanks y'all.
