We are reaching out to friends, family, and the wider community to ask for support for Chris Minko, a long-time Australian resident of Cambodia who is currently recovering from emergency, life-saving surgery at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.

Chris has lived in Cambodia since 1996 and has dedicated much of his life to supporting disadvantaged communities, particularly through his involvement in disability sports and initiatives that create opportunities for people with disabilities.

Unfortunately, Chris has recently faced a serious medical emergency.

Last Friday Chris became critically ill and was rushed to hospital, where doctors discovered a perforation in his intestine that had caused a severe infection and septic shock.

His condition was life-threatening, and he required immediate emergency surgery to save his life.

Thankfully, Chris survived the operation and has now been moved out of intensive care. However, he remains hospitalised, extremely weak, and unable to walk. His road to recovery is expected to require further medical care and support.

Chris has no medical insurance or financial resources to cover these mounting medical expenses.

His daughter, Anya, who is his primary family support in Cambodia, has been by his side throughout this ordeal, doing everything she can to care for him and manage the hospital bills.

Whilst the initial emergency cost approximately $5,000, expenses continue to accumulate as he recovers. Following the surgery, his time in intensive care costs were approximately USD $700 per day.

Whilst the daily cost has reduced, he remains hospitalised and will be on a long road to recovery.

We are raising funds to help cover:
- Emergency surgery and intensive care expenses
- Ongoing hospitalisation and medical treatment
- Medication, follow-up care, and rehabilitation
- Any additional medical support Chris may need during his recovery

After almost three decades of contributing to communities in Cambodia, Chris now finds himself in a position where he needs a little help himself.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in helping Chris receive the care he needs while easing the financial burden on his daughter.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this appeal with others who may know Chris or wish to support him would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time.
