Help Chris Lukens Fight Laryngeal Cancer

Donation protected
One of the hardest things to witness is watching someone you love fall seriously ill. All you want to do is help in some small way, hoping to ease even a fraction of their burden. I’m sure many of you understand that feeling. Unfortunately, my dear friend Chris Lukens is going through such a time right now. But the fortunate thing is, there’s something we can all do to help.

There are countless reasons to love Chris Lukens. I know this because we’ve been friends for nearly 20 years, many of which we spent playing in our band, Chemtrail. We’ve shared countless adventures—some of the best times of my life. If you know Chris, you know the size of his heart and his unmatched sense of humor. I can say without hesitation that no one has ever made me laugh harder. Simply put, Chris is a caring, talented guy who brightens any room he’s in.

About a year ago, Chris began experiencing persistent hoarseness in his throat. After several doctor’s visits and months of uncertainty, he was diagnosed with stage 2/3 laryngeal cancer around Christmas 2023. Despite undergoing several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, the treatments were unsuccessful. As a result, this past summer, Chris had to undergo a complete laryngectomy—the removal of his voice box—with the hope that this would eliminate the cancer. Sadly, a post-op PET scan revealed that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and heart. Chris is now beginning immunotherapy in hopes of fighting this aggressive disease.

As you can imagine, Chris is no longer able to work, and the financial strain has become problematic. When someone is facing something like this, the last thing they should have to worry about is paying bills or being able to get what they need. That’s why I’m reaching out, to share Chris’s story and ask for your support. He’s enduring a nightmare, but we can offer him some relief by easing this one burden.

I hope you’ll consider helping my friend. Whether it’s $5, $10, $20, or more, every bit counts and will go directly to someone who truly doesn’t deserve what he’s going through. Let’s show Chris that we have his back and surround him with the love and support he needs. It’s moments like this that reveal the best of human nature. Time and again, I’ve witnessed people rally to help those in need, even when they don’t know them personally. It’s inspiring, and I know we can come together for Chris.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Chris’s story and for considering a donation. I know he will deeply appreciate the financial help but also the outpouring of love and support.

Chris’s friend,
Mike Burke
