Help Chris Hunter Rebuild - House Fire Total Loss

Last night, January 18th, neighbor and friend Chris Hunter lost virtually everything when his home burned to the ground. He has no insurance to cover the losses. Some things were salvaged, however, most need to be replaced. Chris and his service dog, Maya, need food, a place to stay and the means to rebuild a life following this tragic fire. No donation is too small. It all adds up. If all you are able to do is skip your Starbucks coffee today so you can donate $5, it will help.

Following is Chris’s first post about the fire:
”Last night, my house burned to the ground. I don't even know what I need to do next or even what I need.

I am safe, Maya is safe, Nathan is safe.

Aside from the irreplaceable stuff (photo albums, 20+ years of prototype work, family heirloom stuff) I lost all my food, medication (some of it is absolutely medically necessary), etc.

My best bet right now is to make the bus livable. I don't have a truck to haul the material needed to do that (primarily metal, sheeting stuff like plywood etc). All my cash was lost in the fire too. Dog food, dishes, kitchen stuff, etc.

Right now, just hours into this mess I don't know what to do or what to even ask for help.

I still have the shop and the majority of my tools (yeah I lost a lot), the shop still has heat and power, which is a blessing. (Living off grid, each building had it's own separate power and heat) shop is not big enough to actually live in and at the same time function going forward with what I need to do.

In the morning, I am seeking a shower and I have a bazillion phone call to make, if you call and I don't answer, please please please leave a message and I will call you back. (Redacted) is my phone number. Texting is also preferred, but not required.

Thanks to all the awesome people here on the mountain that have helped me so far and provided a place to stay for tonight.”
