Help Chris Heal: Community Support Needed
Donation protected
Hello, my father (Chris Bermudez) was involved in a hit and run on Tuesday, September 24th, around 10 am on his bicycle. He was a quarter of a mile away from home after having done an 18-mile bike ride as he normally does for exercise. Heading westbound on 20th Street near Centennial Middle School, he described riding his bike perfectly fine to blacking out and waking up in an ambulance to Yuma Regional Medical Center.
The Police Department said they simply found him on the street unconscious but no word on if they were going to try and find the suspect or what exactly happened, so we are taking matters into our own hands and trying to find out information as of right now.
Due to his extensive injuries, a fractured skull requiring staples with a brain hemorrhage (bleeding), fractured clavicle (collarbone), fractured zygomatic bone (upper cheek on face), a black swollen eye, broken rib causing difficulty to breathe, and abrasions (severe scraping of skin) of his left knee, he is currently unable to work. Because of all these added injuries and the fact he lost consciousness due to his brain bleed and skull fracture, he was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona by helicopter.
My father will not be able to work for up to a month due to the severity of his injuries and with his medical bill along with household bills, we as a family are reaching out to our Yuma community in hopes of receiving anything for this major loss. Anything truly helps.
In regards to the incident, I have reached out to Centennial Middle School and Pueblo Elementary School to see if there was any footage of the accident from 9 am to 11 am on that Tuesday morning and nothing was found as the cameras only reached the parking lot. We plan to go door-to-door today in hopes a neighbor in the area has any footage as my father is truly the pillar of our family. We are extremely grateful and beyond happy that he is still here with us despite his injuries and the accident, but we are in desperate need. We thank you for anything you can contribute at all!
