Help Chris get to Mayo Clinic !!!

This is my husband Chris. He’s 33 years old. You may recognize him as someone you worked with, someone you fished or hunted with, someone you went to church with, prayed with, or maybe you were blessed by his constant spirit of giving. 

I met chris when I was 14 and he was 16. What captivated my heart aside from his smile was his passion and desire to always help others. He would drive my Costa Rican mother and grandmother anywhere they asked without even asking for gas money. Many times in our long marriage we received letters from people expressing their gratitude and how Chris’s kindness made impact on them, some have even claimed it changed their lives forever. 

Chris regularly gave his money away to anyone with a need. It was normal for him to buy lunch for people, pay for their groceries, repair their cars, pay phone bills or power bills, and even give the clothes off his body. I remember multiple times coming home and asking where something was and he had given it away. He truly loves, he’ll miss an appointment changing a tire for an elderly person, he’ll stand so you can sit, go hungry so you are fed, there’s literally nothing he wouldn’t do to show someone they are loved by God. 

If you were lucky enough to call chris your friend, you knew you could call him day or night, no matter the reason and he was there.

There is more to Chris than his good deeds. He is a husband and a father to five boys! Blaydn, Wyatt, Wesley, Winston and Benjamin. Ages 14-2. Chris has a huge passion for raising them unto the Lord and teaching them how to be respectful young men. 

Chris was born with a love for nature. Sea, rivers, mountains or desert, he was out in it foraging, hunting, fishing or taking in the views. 

Chris is a natural artist. He’s painted scenes that take my breath away! 

Chris is a romantic … after 17 years of pursuing me; i can’t tell you how many times he surprised me with gifts, flowers, chocolates or simply woke me up to see a sunrise. 

In August 2019 Chris had a freak episode of paralysis in his lower body that was not only terrifying but the beginning of a very long and taxing journey that were still on almost 3 years later. Chris started having muscle weakness/fatigue, muscle spasms/cramps and now were dealing with memory loss and confusion. 

Nearly 3 years of meeting with Neurologist’ and specialist’ and Chris still has no diagnosis. We’ve been told he could have a very rare brain disease. As the disease has progressed he has started having seizures and more dementia like symptoms. Somewhere along the way his spine started deteriorating to the point he cannot hold his head up anymore. 

As you can imagine, Chris is no longer able to do the things that he once enjoyed doing. His quality of life has quickly declined. 

Multiple teams of Neurologists have done the same invasive, painful and terrible testing 

only to come up with nothing. As a result Chris has been referred to Mayo Clinic. 

We’re asking for help to get Chris to Mayo Clinic, to get him to the specialist that can further treat him. We also need our family to have a financial cushion to find housing and be able to support Chris during this time without thinking about how the bills will be paid.
