Chris and my sister have poured their hearts and every extra dollar into building a dream together: a safari lodge near Kruger National Park in South Africa. Their vision is to welcome guests from around the world and share the beauty of the land they love. For years, Chris has worked tirelessly on their property, dedicating himself full-time to making this dream a reality. Because of this, he hasn’t had a paying job or access to health insurance, and every resource has gone into their future.

Recently, Chris’s health took a devastating turn. He is in active congestive heart failure, and after seeking help at free hospitals, he was sent away without the care he desperately needs. In South Africa, private hospitals require payment upfront for all treatment, and when Chris’s condition became critical, my sister had no choice but to admit him to a private hospital. He was placed in the ICU, and she has already paid for several days of care just to stabilize him. Now, Chris faces the possibility of stents or bypass surgery, but the cost of surgery and continued hospital care must be paid in advance.

Chris is the kind of person who gives selflessly to others, and now he needs help more than ever.
