For those of you who know Chris, you know what a strong competitor he is both on and off the field. He is a passionate family man, coach, and teammate. Now Chris and his wife Kim along with their children Kaitlyn, Kristen, and Christopher are in the biggest battle of all and we as teammates need to pull together to help.
In 2015 a very small mass showed up on Chris’ inner thigh. It was misdiagnosed as a clogged vein and after 2 months the mass increased by 180 percent. Chris was then diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. After a complete removal of the tumor and 50 rounds of radiation it was gone. However, 5 years later, a few small nodules were detected in his lungs. A biopsy determined that the Leiomyosarcoma had metastasized to both lungs. Two Robotic Thoracic surgeries where performed (1 on each lung) and the spots were removed. On a scan performed 4 weeks later, a growth showed up in his liver, it had also metastasized to his liver. A PET Scan later showed rapid growth of the mass on his liver. Chris is preparing to be admitted into the hospital for intense chemotherapy treatment for a week, then confined at home for 2 weeks and then back to the hospital for another round of treatment. He will repeat this process continually over the next 6 months.
Chris will be battling for his life and will not be able to work to provide for his family. Cancer treatment is expensive, and the regular daily bills still come in as well. Let’s all pull together to help this wonderful man and his beautiful family bring in the win of his lifetime! Your thoughts and prayers are also greatly appreciated!
