My name is Stephanie, and I'm fundraising to help my friend Chris following his injury.

On the 21st December 2025, Chris was rushed to the local hospital following a major cardiac incident. Following investigation, he was diagnosed with Viral Myocarditis which caused a significant cardiac arrest. Further scans showed that his left ventricle was significant inflamed and enlarged, and he had another major heart attack during a CT scan.

The Viral Myocarditis resulted in a significant myocardial injury, and over the next few months the inflammatory damage could cause severe heart failure due to reduced cardiac contractility. In simple terms, his heart would no longer be able to 'squeeze' strong enough to pump enough oxygen around his body.

Following further scans and appointments, the extent of his myocardial dysfunction is advanced. There's a significant chance of mortality as the heart is unable to work properly.

Based on current findings from scans, surgery and response to treatment, the best long term solution could be a transplant, but first and LVAD will be fitted which will affect daily life and the ability to work.

Chris had another attack overnight on the 5th January 2026, which has led to even more damage and makes further treatment essential.

As a small business owner, Chris never thought anything like this would happen.
