When I was young, I almost lost my younger sister to kidney disease. Her kidneys failed and she fought for her life until she received a kidney from a stranger who had died. Over ten years later, Kaylah found herself in need of another life-saving transplant.
At 26 years old, I was able to give one of my kidneys to save her life. My family has been so grateful for the miracle of kidney donation and the fact that Kaylah now lives a perfectly healthy and normal life.
I never thought that we would have to go through this again. It has been discovered that my older brother, Chris, is now in kidney failure. My brother was my and my sister's rock while we were going through the kidney donation process (and for all the years before and after). If you know Chris, you know how selfless and caring he is. He is the kind of guy that will drop whatever he is doing in order to help someone - be it a friend or a stranger.

I always thought of Chris as the one in the family that I don't have to worry about. My big brother and hero, so strong and resilient. I was wrong - and I am heartbroken.
Now it's our turn to help Chris. The first and best way to help is by sharing this information. The only way to reach the person that is meant to save Chris's life is by sharing this far and wide.
All you need is his name and date of birth: Chris Coughlin, 6/2/81. Those who feel moved to see if they can be a candidate for donation can follow this link and enter the above information:

If you're not interested in trying to donate, that's ok. But please, help us get the word out.
Some people have expressed their desire to help Chris financially. There will be co-pays, deductibles, unforeseen expenses, time off of work, etc. If you feel moved, you can help relieve some of the financial pressure that is suddenly on Chris's shoulders. He's fighting for his life, the last thing he should have to worry about is how to afford that. Anything helps.
I am very grateful to those of you that have been showing my brother so much love and support. I love you all.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about kidney donation.
