A few days before his 44th birthday, in December of 2021 my Dad, Chris, was diagnosed with Stage ll non-small cell lung cancer type llB. Within this stage and type of lung cancer, the cancer spreads to the lymph nodes. I have provided several reliable sources on this type of cancer linked below. Due to the severity of the cancer, he had to undergo a few surgeries soon after the diagnosis was given. The current treatment course is chemotherapy, 6-7 hours daily with two weeks off at a time. Given the extensive hours of treatment and side effects from the chemo, he has unfortunately been unable to work since the first surgery. I would like to raise funds to help my parents with a portion of the medical bills that the insurance does not fully cover. The expenses range from the first two surgeries, chemo treatments, Neulasta shots, and many medications to aid in relieving side effects from treatments. Growing up I quickly realized that I could always count on my Dad; he has been a dedicated worker in order to give us a great life without worry, given support at all of his children’s extracurricular activities, and given us advice anytime we needed it. As anyone who has experienced cancer themselves or had a loved one go through this may know, this is an often terrifying and difficult journey that brings up tough emotions. My Dad has always been a pillar of strength in my family and to see him suffering in this way is truly heartbreaking. He has a true passion for life and his family has always been at the center of his. For these reasons, along with many more, I have created this GoFundMe; I would like for my Dad not to worry about anything other than keeping that strength for the battle that is ahead of him. The current estimated total of treatment is $125,000; we understand that this is a lofty goal, however, any contributions will make an impact. I feel that this GoFundMe will help by easing financial stress for my parents in this challenging time. We appreciate each contribution that we receive, even by simply sharing the page. I ask for prayers for Dad and our family as he navigates the battle with this vicious disease. I will provide updates as we go through this journey. Thank you.
P.S. We also ask that if you have a favorite book or poem, please comment the title below. Dad’s favorite pastime is reading and listening to Audiobooks. No matter where you may be or what you may be dealing with, reading a story can take you to places that you could’ve never imagined.
