Help Chris Easley with his Alzheimer’s Care

Donation protected
Hi everyone-

For those of you that know and perhaps don’t know, my dad (Chris) has Alzheimer’s and has been cared for by his wife Lily, 24/7 in Panama for the past 6 years.

Although my dad now receives $1700 each month from SSI, it had gotten very expensive in Panama for his treatment and his wife is exhausted mentally and physically.

Therefore, on August 20th of 2021, Lily and my dad traveled to Florida to work with the local VA administration for medical care and assistance with housing.

It has been very challenging and it will take months before any VA benefits or housing is approved. The most he would get approval for is up to $600 a month for being a Veteran during non-war time.  Medicaid is an option, but usually takes 6 to 8 months to be approved.

As of now, there is very little money left and our family is struggling to find him an affordable nursing home.  Lily left to go back to Panama on November 10th to tie up loose end and to work.  She will eventually return to the US to work on her residency and live close to my dad.

Any monetary support you could provide to my dad would be greatly appreciated.  My dad was known for having the biggest heart and was always there to help others.  I’ve never done a GoFundMe before and I’m hopeful that this urgent request will inspire you to be there for him❤️

Update:  We found a residential care facility in Georgia for my dad @ $2,300/month.  Unfortunately, he was denied benefits from both the VA and Medicaid and the appeals were denied as well.  With the cost of my dad’s care and living expenses, we are still short of funds each month.  In addition, my dad has recently become restless and bored as the other two residents are a little anti-social.  The care takers are doing the best that they can and an upcoming doctors appointment to see what’s available to help keep my dad calm should help out.  My family and I appreciate all of your support and love for my dad during this hardship.

Thank you to all that graciously donated for my dad’s memory care expenses.

Unfortunately, Chris passed away on 11/19/2022, due to a serious infection combined with having Covid-19.  He was in hospice care with his son Christian at his bedside.

We will be making arrangements soon to celebrate and honor Chris.  He was admired and loved by everyone that knew him❤️
