Help Chris Carbone/Veteran with Traumatic Injury

Donation protected
Brave veteran and family man has been badly injured and needs our help. It’s our turn to help take care of Chris, a good and generous man who has done so much for our country and others.

Chris is an amazing father, husband, family man, U.S. Navy veteran, EA-6 Prowler NFO, and experienced flight instructor. He’s been married to his wife, Colleen for 20 years, and they have a perfect five-year-old daughter named Lindsay. Colleen is a middle school teacher and has been teaching in the public school system for 19 years! They currently live in Pensacola, FL where Chris is still working an extended career as a simulator instructor at the Naval base. He’s had a monumental impact by instructing hundreds of aviation students from every branch of service and countless nations. When he gets home from work, he enjoys relaxing at the house he’s worked tirelessly to build, and spends time with Lindsay who loves living near the ocean and already wants to become a marine biologist! Chris built this successful life after a difficult childhood spent in the foster care system. Starting at too young of an age, he had to learn to succeed in life on his own, and he did!

Chris’s normal life came to a screeching halt two weeks ago. While heading to a wedding for a good friend and previous aviation student, Chris made the extra effort to show up ahead of time with the guys to participate in a camping trip. While at the campground, he had a simple fall that resulted in a tragic traumatic injury. Chris’s back struck a rock shattering his tail bone and multiple bones in his back, causing severe nerve damage in his spine. He was rushed from the nearest ER by ambulance to a neuro-spine center for immediate treatment. It was determined that surgery would be necessary but would need to be delayed several weeks to allow for swelling to decrease. Chris is now navigating a confusing healthcare system with countless medical appointments, and ever-increasing medical bills. From the initial ER visits, ambulance, and neurosurgery appointments alone, the bills have already accumulated to be much more than any reasonable, hard working person can handle. The cost of his neurosurgery and subsequent rehabilitation will be extensive. Due to switching over to the Reserves, then separating to his contract simulator job, TRICARE will not cover any of his medical bills or expenses. Deductible is huge, and medical plan only covers a small portion of the surgery. These bills could amount in excess of $60k as treatment/surgery continues.

Chris was dealt a bad hand in childhood, but turned his life into an incredible success with his Navy careerthrough hard work and determination. He is adored by his friends, his wife, and his daughter Lindsay. Due to limitations in insurance coverage, Chris’s hard earned life is on the verge of being turned upside down with this financial burden.

If you have had the pleasure of meeting Chris, you know what a good family man, friend, stellar aviator and remarkable instructor he is. He has made an impact on hundreds upon hundreds of students who have gone on to protect our country. He’s been dealt a bad hand yet again, but now it is time for all those who know him, who he’s impacted and even those who don’t know him to rally and pitch in to help him through this devastating injury. Any amount you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated in helping Chris recover from this injury and get back to the life he has worked so hard to build.

Thank you!!
