Help Chris Avoid Homelessness – Fighting Mental Illness

Chris’s Story: Surviving Against All Odds

Chris has always been the kind of person who goes the extra mile for others—offering kindness and support to anyone in need. Now, he desperately needs help to survive.

In 2021, Chris escaped an abusive marriage, a courageous decision that left him stranded in Colorado with no family nearby. The trauma from this experience led to a severe depressive episode and a bipolar disorder diagnosis. While battling mental illness, chronic pain from a back injury, and financial hardship, he lost his home and spent three months homeless.

But Chris didn’t give up. He fought his way out of homelessness, secured a full-time job, and moved into a basement apartment. For two years, he worked hard to rebuild his life. Unfortunately, his landlord recently reclaimed the apartment for family, leaving Chris once again struggling for shelter, food, and stability.

Facing Homelessness Again – While Battling Mental Illness & Chronic Pain

Chris lives with bipolar disorder, making stability even more critical for his health. In addition, a back injury causes him chronic pain, making it extremely difficult to navigate homelessness. He has done everything possible to stay afloat, but now, he faces being back on the streets in just a few days.

He recently landed a full-time job at Rite Aid, but he doesn’t have a start date yet. With nowhere to go and no support left, he is struggling to survive.
