This summer (July 1-30) I have been accepted to attend the European American Musical Alliance (EAMA) Summer Music Institute in Paris, France.
The EAMA Summer Music Institute program is for composers, conductors, educators and musicians to collaborate as peers and learn under the legendary faculty members.
Part of the program will include intense coursework on the subjects in counterpoint, harmony, musicianship, and analysis, rooted in the teachings of renowned teacher, conductor, and composer Nadia Boulanger. The program will include cultural exchange opportunities by exploring the city of Paris, and attending places, and venues of historical and cultural significance to the city. The cultural exchange opportunities also extend to the diverse group of attendees.
As a composer attendee I will have composition, reading, and recording opportunities by various ensembles at the program such as the EAMA Resident String Quartet comprised of students from the Julliard School of Music, and resident guest artists. I have also been selected as recording fellow that will be responsible for recording, mixing and mastering the music that will be performed by other attending musicians. Both expanding and recording my own catalog, alongside further developing my recording and production skills are all immensely helpful to further my career as a composer and musician.
Notable alumni of EAMA include award-winning composers such as Philp Glass, Nico Muhly, and Eric Whitacre.
I aim to raise $1500 by May 1st. All donations will be used to offset the costs of tuition and lodging, airfare, and transportation for the program. No matter your donation amount, it will help me get one step closer to attending this program. If you are not able to donate, you can still help me by sharing this fundraiser with your network and on any social media platforms!
